Have Some CEO's Lost Their Way?

This may well rank as one of the most controversial pieces I will ever write for SCN, and will (should) likely spark a lot of dialogue.

Back when I started in HR many years ago, it was still the feeling on the part of a lot of (admittedly white, male) executives, that they could custom order the kind of person that they were looking to hire for a particular role.

If hiring for an executive assistant, for example, it was not uncommon to hear of them wanting a woman, with appealing physical and social characteristics.

When I worked in Quebec in the late 1980ís, it was not uncommon for CEOs to ask for Francophones for the position of head of HR (given that all other roles on the executive team were often times held by Anglophones or Allophones). .....
