Who is in the HR Leaders in Transition Peer Forums

  • Members of HRLT – typically director-level and above – are innovative thinkers who come from across all sectors and industries and have led strategic or operational HR roles.
  • To join, you must be in career transition to a HR role within an organization. Most recently, you would have left an HR role at the Director-level or higher.
  • You must have a SCNetwork Learning Membership  which can be arranged at the time you join the Forum.

What is the structure of the Peer Forum?

  • Self-directed: With guidance from the Facilitator and administrative support from SCNetwork, Forum members themselves determine the content, frequency, timing, and format of their meetings.
  • Contains no fewer than six, and no more than 20 members.
  • Each Forum has a volunteer, professional Facilitator who provides general oversight to the effective operation of the Forum.
  • The Meeting Chair is rotated at each meeting so all members have an opportunity to act in this role.  A Meeting Chair ensures the effective management of the assigned meeting by introducing the topic and speaker (if any) and solicits discussion among Forum Members.

How often does the Peer Forum meet, and in what format?

  • HRLT Peer Forums typically meet virtually and about 10  times a year.
  • More informal interaction between members – remotely and in-person – occurs throughout the year.

What are the expectations for members?

  • Members are expected to bring an “abundance mentality” to each meeting.
  • A key attribute of a member is that they are willing to contribute their experience to help others.
  • They will actively participate in learning and sharing during meetings.
  • Members are also expected to offer ideas for future meeting topics and suggest ways in which the Forum may be improved.
  • All members will, occasionally, be called upon to meet with and provide recommendations on prospective members.
  • Members of HRLTs rotate to chair the meeting responsibilities, giving everyone a chance to lead a session. This entails duties such as chairing meetings, drafting the meeting agenda and minutes etc.
  • Forum Members shall also be positive ambassadors for SCNetwork and recommend new general members for the association as well as prospective Forum members for this Forum and other SCNetwork Peer Forums.
  • Confidentiality regarding what is discussed or presented in the Peer Forum is strictly observed – “What is said in the room, stays in the room.”

What happens if employment status changes?

  • Members who become employed may remain in the Forum for the duration of their current year, and up to one additional year.

What is the cost for participation in the HRLT?

  • Membership to HRLT is free for current SCNetwork members seeking HR employment in an organization.
  • For new members, HRLT is free with a SCNetwork Learning Membership  which can be arranged at the same time you join the Forum.
