Our monthly events feature provocative and thoughtful speakers on issues preoccupying today’s leaders and organizations.

Role Summary

The  SCN Calgary Chapter is seeking a  Volunteer Program Coordinator to join our Board of Directors for a  minimum 2-year term. This is a key role in shaping and delivering the member experience by coordinating our Calgary programming, including speaker events, panels, and networking opportunities.
The successful candidate will bring energy, organizational savvy, and an interest in leadership, organizational effectiveness, strategy, and HR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Planning & Coordination
    • Work closely with the Calgary Chapter Chair and Board to develop and deliver an annual calendar of events.
    • Coordinate logistics for monthly speaker events (virtual and in-person), including venue coordination, catering, registration, A/V, and set-up.
    • Liaise with speakers to confirm details, timing, bios, presentation materials, and any travel requirements.
    • Ensure smooth day-of-event execution with support from Board members and volunteers.
  • Program Development
    • Identify and recommend relevant and engaging speakers/topics aligned with SCN’s mission and membership interests.
    • Support outreach to prospective speakers, partners, and sponsors.
    • Maintain a pipeline of potential programming ideas and collaborations.
  • Marketing & Communications Support
    • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications lead to ensure events are promoted in a timely and effective way.
    • Provide clear event information for posting on SCN’s website, social media channels, and newsletters.
    • Support post-event follow-up, including speaker thank-yous, surveys, and capturing feedback.
  • Board & Administrative Duties
    • Provide program updates at board meetings and contribute to strategic discussions around member engagement.
    • Maintain records and documentation for events, including attendance, costs, and feedback.
    • Champion SCN’s mission and encourage new memberships where opportunities arise.

What You Bring

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience planning and executing events or programs (non-profit or corporate settings an asset).
  • Comfort liaising with speakers, sponsors, and volunteers.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and interest in leadership and organizational strategy.
  • Ability to commit to a 2-year volunteer term.

Time Commitment

  • Term: Minimum 2 years
  • Commitment: ~4–6 hours per month, including planning meetings, event execution, and coordination.
  • Location: Calgary (mix of virtual and in-person events)
