Becoming a supervisor used to be a role earned through experience and performance. It came with a title, training, authority, and clear accountability for someone else’s output.
With the rapid deployment of generative and most recently agentic AI however, every employee has become a supervisor. People using AI are expected to be able to effectively assign tasks, review work, catch errors, provide feedback, and own the result of work being performed by AI, all with very little training.
