Since 1979, SCNetwork has created a trusted community where senior HR leaders connect, learn, and collaborate through peer forums, events, and thought leadership.
The Opportunity
SCNetwork is seeking dynamic, engaged, and community-minded professionals to join its Board of Directors. As a volunteer Board Director, you will contribute to the strategic direction, governance, and growth of a nationally recognized organization that supports senior HR leaders across Canada.
We are currently looking to add several Board members with diverse professional backgrounds to complement the existing Board and support the organization in its next phase of growth.
Desired Backgrounds & Expertise
We welcome candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Marketing and Brand Strategy
- Information Technology / Digital Transformation
- Communications and Content Strategy
- Finance / Accounting
- Membership Growth and Engagement
- Event Programming or Learning & Development
- Governance and Not-for-Profit Leadership
Experience in HR or related fields is an asset but not required.
Board Responsibilities
As a Board Director, you will:
- Provide strategic oversight and guidance to support SCNetwork’s mission and objectives
- Actively participate in Board meetings, committees, and key initiatives
- Contribute your expertise to advance the organization’s programs, events, and member experience
- Serve as an ambassador for SCNetwork within your professional network
- Support fundraising, sponsorship, and partnership initiatives as required
- Uphold strong governance practices and fiduciary responsibilities

The ideal candidate is:
- A collaborative and proactive leader who is passionate about community building
- A strategic thinker with the ability to contribute at a governance level
- Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Able to dedicate time to Board meetings and committee work; prior experience in board roles such as Treasurer or Corporate Secretary
- Interested in giving back and supporting the growth of HR leadership across Canada
Time Commitment
- Board meetings are held regularly (typically quarterly and annual AGM)
- Additional time for committee participation and special initiatives
- Term length and expectations will be outlined during the selection process
